General Information

Hungarian citizens in distress or urgent emergencies can contact the Consular Service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, outside of working hours - including weekends and public holidays - through the Consular Information and Duty Center in Budapest.

We do not provide information on ongoing cases, unless the period specified below has passed since the application submission:

Schengen visa/D type visa:

Information on applying for a Schengen visa type C:

We would like to inform you that Georgian citizens holding a biometric passport can stay in the Schengen area without a visa (up to 90 days within a 180-day period).

A short-term, so-called C visa not exceeding 90 days is issued by the Embassy of Latvia in Tbilisi on behalf of Hungary. Accordingly, visa applications of Georgian citizens without a biometric passport and citizens of other countries who are subject to a visa requirement and who hold a valid Georgian residence permit are processed by the Embassy of Latvia.

Information on submitting type D (residence permit) applications:

Applications can be submitted and the approved visas can be taken only after booking an appointment at the following website: https://konzinfoidopont.mfa.gov.hu/home

For type D (residence permit) applications, the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (OIF) is the decision-making authority. The Embassy is responsible only for forwarding the applications.

Appeal:

In the case of a negative decision, the applicant has the right to appeal within 8 calendar days on receiving the decision. The appeal procedure fee is 160 EUR, to be paid at the time of submission.
