Organised by the Embassy and the Tbilisi State University, the Director General of the Hungarian Heritage House in Budapest, Dr. Miklós Both and his research director, Dr. Ildikó Sándor visited Georgia between 3-6 June. The aim of the visit was to familiarize their Georgian colleagues with the Hungarian practice of research and preservation of folk traditions. During the visit, the guests also participated in a conference where the role of cultural heritage in education and folklore was discussed with the Georgian participants.

After a welcome speech by Hungarian Ambassador Anna Sikó, the conference included presentations by Dr. Miklós Both and Hungarian proofreader Dr. Árpád Éles, who is the Tbilisi based Hungarian lector, and whose goulash soup also gave the participants an opportunity to learn about Hungarian gastronomy. The event ended with the screening of György Szomjas' film "Talpuk alatt fütyül a szél" (1976), which film created the "Hungarian-Eastern" genre.

After the conference, the guests visited the Skanzen, which showcases the typical folk architecture of several regions of Georgia, and the Museum of Folk Instruments, where they had discussions with the heads of the institutions.
